From April 1, 2025 the digital catalogue raisonné of Ando Gilardi is officially online, one of the most significant projects for the promotion of Italian photographic heritage.
Curated by Fototeca Gilardi with the creative direction of Nicola Nunziata, the project was funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU and managed by the Italian Ministry of Culture.
It is freely accessible through a public web platform at: www.andogilardi.it
We are proud to have contributed to several aspects of the project: MomaPIX was used both as a DAM (Digital Asset Management) system and as the foundation for the development of the editorial platform. A project that combined archival care, visual design, and digital accessibility, placing the user at the center. A true online cultural project was brought to life.
Due to the richness of the catalogue, users are encouraged to browse it from desktop, with mobile access limited to registration only.
A far-reaching digital project
The digital catalogue is not just an organized collection of materials, but a true tool for study and research, dedicated to students, professionals, researchers, and enthusiasts of photography, visual communication, and image history.
At the heart is the work and thought of Ando Gilardi, a key figure in mid-to-late 20th century photography: partisan, critic, publisher, historian, and tireless experimenter.
The platform allows intuitive exploration of both textual and visual materials, featuring curated thematic paths, detailed records rich in metadata, and an interface designed to ensure the best user experience.
MomaPIX for cultural heritage
