The Alinari Foundation for Photography, custodian of the world’s oldest photographic archive and one of the most important in terms of historical and cultural value, has chosen MomaPIX as its reference platform for digital management of its collection.
The project involved full integration with MomaPIX, focusing on updating the management system without changing the public interface of the site, which was preserved in accordance with the existing graphic design.
A tailor-made system for complex needs
The core of the intervention focused on replacing the previous management system, which had been internally developed and refined over more than twenty years to meet the specificities of the archive. The platform now needed to evolve to meet new requirements for flexibility, updatability, and interoperability.
MomaPIX provided a custom-configured digital environment capable of addressing the descriptive and image management complexities, while complying with cataloguing standards set by the Ministry of Culture. At the same time, it supports the Foundation’s operational, promotional, and commercial activities in a more agile and integrated way.

- Customizable hierarchical thesauri for semantic navigation;
- Advanced DAM functionalities for managing digital files;
- Integration with the accounting system for automatic invoice generation;

- Optimized workflows designed for efficient and sustainable long-term management.
