The photographic archive of Ando Gilardi (1921 \u2013 2012) represents a significant heritage for the documentation of post-war Italy. A photographer, journalist, historian, and critic of photography, between 1950 and 1962, he began to create photo reports as visual support for his articles. <\/span><\/p>\r\n

The collection of negatives from the Ando Gilardi Reporter fund is the subject of an important recovery and digitalization effort carried out by Fototeca Gilardi, with the support of ABF \u2013 Atelier for Photographic Heritage in Turin.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Fototeca Gilardi needed to securely archive Ando Gilardi’s digitized photographic archive and implement a strategy for its valorization. <\/span><\/p>\r\n

The transition from negatives to digital files represented a paradigm shift that revolutionized the management of the archive, taking it online.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

They sought a solution to promote the archive externally while simultaneously controlling access and preventing unauthorized use.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n

  • Promotion of the historical archive: thanks to integrated email marketing tools in the DAM, the site becomes the center from which the culture contained in the digital heritage is disseminated.<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n

    • Access permission management: over the years, Fototeca Gilardi has built a vast network of contacts to promote the digital archive, which now has about 500 registered user accesses, including publishers, professors, and university students. Users with a prior agreement can download the photographic material.<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n
        \r\n
      • E-commerce for photo sales: on the digital archive of Fototeca Gilardi, it is possible to purchase prints of historical photos with any credit card or via PayPal.<\/span><\/li>\r\n
      • Distribution: agreements have also been made with other agencies for the distribution and sale abroad of images from the historical archive, which, where the agreement provides, are automatically displayed on the DAM platform of the partner via API, without the need for specific sending.<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/section>\r\n
